Dear East Middle School Families,
I hope you've had a restful Fall Break! This is a much-needed time for students to reset before the beginning of the 2nd term.
Our team at East Middle was able to rest a bit, but we spent quite a bit of time making some improvements to our journey for this school year. I'm very excited about these changes and eager to see them unfold throughout this next term.
The changes will almost certainly impact your student in some way. Nearly everyone in the building will get a new schedule. Students will enjoy a mix-up of their peers but will likely have the same teachers just at a different time of day. However, we have made some adult changes to our teaching assignments that will have an impact on some students:
Mr. Floyd has shifted into our 7th-grade Social Studies position.
Dr. Kane has shifted into a Reading Specialist position.
Dr. Gay is a new hire and will now teach 8th-grade Math.
Mrs. Keiner-Rummel has stepped into our 6th-grade Exceptional Child Educator role. (She will maintain her Algebra class.)
Mr. Martin is now a Reading Co-teacher.
I believe this reset is the right choice - the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience. Classes will be balanced. Teachers are in the right seat. Students will get targeted support in response to first-term data/feedback.
We are a school on the move! It is both humbling and tremendously exciting to be a part of it. Thank you for your support and confidence!
In partnership,
Principal Allan
