This week has been a short but productive one! Dr. Hicks and I had the opportunity to conduct 30-day meetings with several of our principals, and I'm pleased to say they have been going exceptionally well. We are fortunate to have such fantastic leadership at the school level, and it's clear that our principals, along with their teams, are focused on creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for our students. Our teachers work hard daily to make lessons impactful and relevant, ensuring our students are set up for success.
I'd also like to give our incredible classified staff a special shoutout. From the front office to the cafeteria, custodial teams, instructional assistants, SROs, and nurses, these unsung heroes play a critical role in the daily success of our schools. Their hard work often goes unnoticed, but it's a significant factor in ensuring our students are supported in every aspect of their day. Our transportation and maintenance staff also deserve recognition for their unbelievable work behind the scenes. Educating a child is truly a team effort, and we couldn't do it without the dedication of everyone, including parents and students. I hope you all have a wonderful and restful week ahead!
Katie Martin founded the Learner-Centered Collaborative, an organization dedicated to transforming education by empowering schools to focus on student-centered learning. She travels across the country, speaking and collaborating with districts to implement innovative practices. Devin, a former principal and superintendent, also works with the organization, bringing his experience to help guide schools in this important work.
I encourage you to check out the blog post, “3 Key Elements for Cultivating a Learner-Centered Collaborative,” which offers valuable insights on how to foster this approach in your own classroom. As educators, it’s our responsibility to teach standards to proficiency while also providing students the opportunity to develop and practice key skills outlined in our Profile. By focusing on both content and skill development, we can help students reach their full potential.
Inspired activities and community engagement enhance our learning and leadership across the district.
