SCHS Soccer Team Serves Backpack Program

Author Jim George once said β€œServing others prepares you to lead others.” Taylor Shaver, coach of the Rocket Boys Soccer team, knows this mantra and is helping his players develop leadership skills. The team members, along with Coach Shaver and Assistant Coach Lumbatis spent Friday evening packing almost 600 food bags for the children in our county who are on the Backpack Project Food program. Every Family Resource Youth Service Center staff at every school in the district sends home a weekly food bag for students on Backpack Program. These bags help ensure that school children facing food insecurities at home have enough to eat over the weekend. This is another example of how the Shelby County High School coaches and staff are growing young leaders for our community.
