Hello everyone,
Last week was a short one but a productive one. Does anyone else feel like short weeks sometimes feel longer? LOL
As you know, Amendment 2 did not pass, and I have been asked for my thoughts on the matter several times. I have always said that there are good people on both sides of this issue. However, the message from Kentuckians was clear: using public tax dollars to fund private schools is not something they want. People here in Kentucky love their public schools, and we are fortunate to be part of one of the most supportive communities in the state. It is an excellent time for us all to come together and discuss how to continue improving our schools.
How can we ensure that all students have access to quality preschool programs? How can we help our first-time language learners acquire new language skills effectively? How can we challenge and engage our gifted students? These are essential questions, and we all share the goal of helping every student succeed. Teachers need access to high-quality instructional materials, and we must ensure they receive top-notch professional development. These are the issues that unite us, and now is a wonderful opportunity to work together on solutions.
Another hot topic is the Spencer County property line issue. We are actively working with Spencer County's leadership, along with our community leaders, parents, legislators, and the Board of Education, to support all students and provide them with a high-quality education. Dr. Foster is a strong advocate for Spencer County, and I'm grateful to call him a friend. Together, we will work toward common-sense solutions with students' best interests at heart.
I wish everyone a fantastic week!
