Ms. Melissa Chesterfield from the Marnel C. Moorman Spartan Career Center provided the Board with a report on the Paxton Patterson Lab Training that she participated in this summer. Beginning this year Shelby County middle school students will work through real world career exploration modules. Ms. Chesterfield provided a brief report on her training and what she looks forward to working on with students.
Ms. Sonya Blackburn: Congrats on our GED graduate, Jose. The building projects in the district are looking good, a lot of work has been done at West, Heritage, and Simpsonville. Thank you Ms. Morehead from KSBA for coming to the Board meeting and updating us. I hope everyone has a great school year! Our staff always gets into the trenches and makes it all work for our students.
Mr. Andrew Cline: I love seeing the progress on our building projects, thank you to Mr. Swindler for moving our projects forward. My apologies for not being able to make Opening Day this year on the 5th. I’ll be there in spirt cheering everyone on.
Ms. Joanna Freels: The Shelby County Education Foundation Board was revamped. Orrie Carter is the Chair. The Foundation is providing food for our Opening Day celebration and they have many great projects in the works that will benefit our staff and students. Dates and programming are set for our Young Leaders program, we are looking forward to that. The KSBA conference was one of the best I’ve attended.
Ms. Brenda Jackson: I’m excited about the middle school career exploration modules. I’m sorry I was late and for missing the GED recognition. But congratulations to Jose, getting your GED is not easy, it is very difficult. I thank Ms. Morehead from KSBA for her update this evening.
Ms. Sarah Reed: I'm stoked about letters that have been placed on the front of SCHS. I hope we get more bus drivers soon for the school year. I'm looking forward to a good school year.
